The rise of GPUs in the production workflow currently allows producers to create photo-realistic contents which could be rendered in real time. This heritage from the video game industry requires a series of 3D programming and environmental mapping. Projecting such 3D content on digital screens and link them with the moves of a camera allows sophisticated reflections on actors : it has been used for example in Gravity or The Mandadorian. In the factual industry, we are currently using them in either full 3D projects (on dinosaurs for example) or mixed projects ( on Mars exploration).
